03/06/2009 - Buffalo, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Tim Connolly registered two goals and two assists, leading the Buffalo Sabres to a 5-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes at HSBC Arena.
Andrej Sekera, Jason Pominville and Drew Stafford also scored for the Sabres, who won consecutive games for the first time since besting Toronto and Montreal on February 4 and 6, respectively. Jaroslav Spacek collected two helpers and Patrick Lalime made 29 saves to earn the win.
Matthew Lombardi notched a power-play goal for the Coyotes, who have lost four of their last five games. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 26-of-31 shots in defeat.
Buffalo took a 1-0 lead as Connolly, stationed at the left side of the cage, redirected Spacek's shot from the point 7:07 into the contest. Moments later, Connolly won a draw cleanly back to Sekera, whose drive from just inside the blueline eluded the Phoenix netminder at 8:25.
While on the power play, Connolly came out from behind the net and beat Bryzgalov high on the glove side with 5:43 remaining in the middle stanza, six seconds after Petr Prucha went to the box for hooking.
One of several newcomers acquired at the trade deadline, Lombardi finally solved Lalime on the power play at the 6:52 mark of the third period. Connolly also played a role in this tally, committing the restraining foul that gave Phoenix the man advantage.
Pominville and Stafford scored power-play goals 37 seconds apart late in regulation to cement the win.
Game Notes
Buffalo finished 3-for-6 on the power play, while the Desert Dogs were 1- for-6...The Sabres are 19-12-2 at home this season...Phoenix fell to 11-19-3 as the guest.

Chiefs' Treen Green out for Sunday's game
How long Trent Green will remain sidelined is unknown. Coach Herm Edwards said Monday he will miss a second straight start Sunday when the Chiefs host the San Francisco 49ers.
A two-time Pro Bowler, Green was going into a feet-first hook slide when he was knocked unconscious by a thunderous, head-snapping hit from Cincinnati's Robert Geathers.
Oddsmakers at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com currently have the Chiefs listed as 7-point favorites versus the 49ers.
The 49ers got beat by Philadelphia 38-24 as a 6.5-point underdog last week. The combined score went OVER the posted over/under total (42.5).
Alex Smith completed 27-of-46 passes for 293 yards with a touchdown. Michael Robinson rushed for 29 yards and a pair of touchdowns on five carries.
The Chiefs lost 9-6 to Denver last week as an 11-point underdog. The combined score was well UNDER the posted over/under total (38).
Larry Johnson rushed for 126 yards on 27 carries. Damon Huard completed 17-of-23 passes for 133 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds
Will he or won't he? Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.
Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.
"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."
Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.
Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.
But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.
Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback. It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.
Here are the football odds as seen at MySportsbook.com and subject to change after February 10, 2007 if not locked in prior to that date.
